"African American Civil War Veterans of Oregon: Oregon's Hidden Civil War History."

This month is the 109th Anniversary of Portland resident, and Civil War veteran Daniel Drew's lecture on Nov 19, 1902, at the Sunnyside Congregational Church on "Condition of the Colored Race Before, During, and Since the Civil War." Mr. Drew was a slave at the outbreak of the Civil War War, and was given his freedom by Union soldiers. He then enlisted in the Union Army, and served to the end of the war. Randy Fletcher, author of the new book: The Hidden History of Civil War Oregon, will talk about Rev. Drew and other black civil war soldiers he has found in Oregon.
